Daydream — Alpha v0.17.0

This is an early-access alpha — you're among the first to play with it. Two ways to run it: DreamSampler, a playable VST3 / AU instrument for any DAW, and DreamMax, a native device for Ableton Live. Shared for early testing only — please don't redistribute.

Tell us everything — what felt great, what broke, what you wish it did. Feedback goes in the Daydream Discord.

DreamSampler — VST3 & AU instrument

Add DreamSampler to an instrument track and play it with MIDI — the engine maps incoming notes to live-generated audio, packaged as a playable synth. Load it in any VST3 or Audio Unit (AU) host, or run the standalone app with no DAW. The macOS installer includes both the VST3 and the AU.

Install on macOS

  1. Open the downloaded .pkgand follow the installer (signed & notarized).
  2. Pick which formats to install — the VST3, the Audio Unit (AU), and the standalone appare all pre-selected; deselect any you don't need. They install to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/, /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/, and /Applications.
  3. Rescan plugins in your DAW, add DreamSampler to an instrument track, and play notes — or run the standalone app directly, no DAW needed.

Install on Windows

  1. Run the downloaded .exe installer and follow the prompts (it needs administrator rights).
  2. Choose which components to install — the VST3 plug-in and the standalone app are both pre-selected. The VST3 lands in C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\.
  3. Rescan plugins in your DAW, add it to an instrument track, and play notes — or run the standalone app directly.

DreamMax ONE — the all-in-one Ableton device: drop it on a track and it makes that track the source, regenerating it live as you turn the knobs. Needs Ableton Live 12 Suite (Max for Live).
